Welcome to Butte Humane Society (BHS). We are one of the oldest non-profit agencies in Butte County, California, working since 1911 to bring humanitarian care to dogs, cats and other animals. We are a low kill shelter that strives to make our animals as comfortable as possible during their stay with us.
Our goal at Butte Humane Society is to find loving homes for all the lost, abandoned and otherwise unwanted animals that come through our door, and to provide education to the public concerning animal care and the importance of spaying and neutering.
Our mission is to provide and advocate humane treatment of companion and other animals through promotion of compassion, responsible stewardship and public awareness in our community.
To further our commitment to ending the cycle of pet overpopulation, BHS has opened a spay and neuter clinic that provides low cost options for our local communities. For contact and price information click here.
