ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for providing administrative support to the Executive director in regards to web content and social media management.
1) Content Management intern will work directly with management and program content managers to develop articles and content for buttehumane.org website and our social media outlets. This editorial/writing internship requires excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
2) Responsibilities include: reviewing and editing articles submitted by programs; drafting new stories as assigned by management; performing research, interviews, fact checking and reference as needed; assisting with content review and page migration; and identifying redundancies in material
3) Intern will work directly with management to format, update and create web pages as assigned. This position requires basic HTML and image editing skills as well as familiarity with (or ability to learn) a content management system. Responsibilities include: creating and formatting new pages as assigned; creating, modifying or formatting embedded multimedia (video, slideshows, and images); assisting in prepping and transferring pages from current publishing platform to new content management system; troubleshooting problems with coding/formatting; and identifying redundancies in material. Some editorial work included.
4) Communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers, management and the public at all times. Consistently work with co-workers and the public in a courteous and professional manner to promote positive relationships and foster a team atmosphere. Be prepared to share information to strengthen awareness of animal welfare issues and the society’s mission. This would include providing information to the public about Butte Humane animal service programs via telephone, email and ground mail.
5) Ability to write under deadline and strong interest in animal protection and advocacy work required. Preferred applicants are pursuing a degree in journalism, English, communications, political science or related field.
6) Minimum time commitment of 20 hours per week.
7) Assist with on / off site events as scheduled.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Individual will frequently be required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear. Will be asked to set up for events, including stretching, bending and stooping, and lifting of up to 25 pounds.
