Out of Town Adopters

Thank you so much for considering us as the shelter that you would like to adopt from. Choosing the next member of your family is not a quick decision, especially if you are traveling far from home. We always recommend taking your time with your decision and that may take a day or two.

Our Adoption process for Out-of Town Guests:

• Make an appointment: If you see a pet that you like and are interested in adopting, please call 530-343-7917 to make an appointment with one of our adoption counselors. We strive to make our adoption process as easy and fun as possible. By cutting down wait times and having someone specifically assigned to you we find that this process is smoother and much more enjoyable for all of our guests. After all, this is a special time and we want you to enjoy it!
  
• Make a reservation at a hotel or restaurant: If you are going to spend the night we recommend making a reservation with a local hotel or Bed and Breakfast beforehand (listed below). Also, if you plan to dine out, a restaurant reservation will ensure you won't be waiting.
  
• Packing: Make sure to check the weather before packing (try www.wunderground.com). Casual and comfortable clothing that can be layered is usually the best choice. Chico can have extreme and unpredictable weather at times.
  
• Parking: On the day of your visit, you can park on the street or in our parking lot - wherever there is space.
• Your Visit: Come on in! Just let one of the front office employees know that you have an adoption appointment and the fun will begin.
