Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteering at our shelter can be a very rewarding experience for you and your family. To see the joy in an animal's eyes when you take a dog for a walk, scratch a kitty's belly or give a senior bunny some love is an amazing and gratifying experience - for you AND them!
Volunteering is open to persons 16 years and older and ages 12-15 if accompanied by an adult over 18 years old.
Volunteering is easy!
- Fill out a volunteer application and have your $10 T-shirt fee ready (cash or check only, please). Bring your application to orientation.
- Come to a mandatory volunteer orientation, held Saturdays from 11am-12pm (follow the link for upcoming dates). Your application and $10 fee are due at this time.
- Sign up and attend mandatory trainings in order to prepare you for the tasks and opportunities that interest you.
- Schedule recurring shifts with the volunteer coordinator.
- Start helping our animals and our community!
Volunteers are required to do at least SIX hours per month (usually three shifts) for at least SIX months. We need this commitment in order to provide the best care consistently for our animals.
If for some reason you cannot commit to six hours a month for six months, and feel that you have special circumstances and can provide meaningful help, there may be a volunteer opportunity right for you - please e-mail our volunteer coordinator Mary Keesling or call 530-894-9066 ext 13.
**If volunteering for court ordered community service, please contact Angie Blume at 530/894-9066 ex.16
Volunteer Opportunities include, but are not limited to:
- Cat and Dog Care
